While Upper Arlington Girls Soccer does not typically have a formalized summer training program, the Ohio High School Athletic Association is once again allowing fall sports to hold preseason training sessions beginning June 1 this year. The program will be taking advantage of this opportunity as long as it's available. Regular skill development sessions for all prospective players will be scheduled through the end of July, when formal practices may officially begin.
Players are on their own to improve their strength, conditioning and mental preparation during the off-season. The head coach has a recommended off-season workout plan that players can follow on their own, in teams, or in groups. The team's strength and conditioning coach has also designed a four-week bodyweight program to supplement that plan, which he demonstrates here.
The program hosts a Team Evaluation Camp in July. All girls who are interested in playing for the high school are strongly encouraged to attend. The camp takes place over 10 days prior to tryouts and serves as the launching point for the season. The camp is run by the head coach with the goal of preparing players for tryouts and the season.
